Holiday Staycation at Taal Vista Hotel, Tagaytay City.
Holidays and long weekends allow us to switch from a busy to a relax mode. It is also a great chance to bond with family by going out of town for a staycation. For this, I suggest that going to Tagaytay City will be the most practical destination considering its distance from Manila.
Famous for its fresh and cool air, captivating scenery, and delectable cuisine, Tagaytay is absolutely a perfect getaway from the hectic city life.
I visited the Hotel last December 22, 2018, in celebration of my parent-in-laws’ 49th Wedding Anniversary where we had a lunch buffet at the Veranda, one of the extravagant restaurants of the hotel.
A brief history of Taal Vista Hotel:
- Previously known as Taal Vista Lodge
- It is one of the oldest landmark in Tagaytay where then President Manuel L. Quezon held cabinet meetings at this hotel.
- During the Second World War from 1942 to 1944, Taal Vista Lodge was converted to an officers’ quarters for the Japanese.
- In February 1945, the 11th Airborne Division of the US Army parachuted down onto the Tagaytay Ridge to assist in the liberation of Manila.
- Between 1956 and 1964 Tagaytay began to bepromoted as a major tourist destination in the Philippines with Taal Vista Lodge as one of the leading attractions in the city
- One of the many regular visitors of the hotel was a young man who often chose one spot on the grounds from which to gaze out and dream. He is Henry Sy of SM Investments Corporation—the company that would later acquire Taal Vista Hotel.

Upon arrival, I presented the confirmation details from Booking.com and one valid ID then paid it using my debit card. The staff briefly discussed hotel rules and regulations then gave me the room key card afterward. Overall, it was a hassle-free transaction.
